In 2009 we bought a cottage, Stonar, in Green Bottom, a small hamlet in the Royal Forest of Dean. It is just inside the north east corner of the forest so was an ideal base for a walking holiday in the forest. For nearly 4 years we let out Stonar as a holiday cottage and used it ourselves. So I collected much information about the Forest of Dean, for my own interest and for our visitors. That information is here as it may interest others.
We sold Stonar in March 2020.
Broadly, the site is divided into arbitrary sections - but the history, archaeology, natural history are all fundamentally based on the local geology so the subjects really don't divide as the labels indicate.
